Hungarian growers will collect from their orchards considerably less fruit in current season mainly due to sudden severe frost that afflicted most part of fruit trees cultivation areas. Latest estimation shows that the harvest will be smaller about 50% of what was initially predicted, according Hungarian agriculture specialists.
In previous season Hungarian farmers collected fruit with value around 400 million EURO. This year's losses are estimated at about 150 million EURO.
Is also expected a rise in price of fruit in whole Europe because the sudden fall of temperature has resulted in fruit losses in many countries.
The farmers will draw profits of this increase of price since they can sell their fresh produce at higher prices. The others are counting on aid from the damage compensation fund, the Hungarian government and EU.
