The season of Chilean stone fruit in China has started.

On February 24, via online meeting, The Stone Fruit Committee of the Chilean Fruit Exporters Association (ASOEX) together with several distributors and importers of fruits from China, officially started the 2021 season of Chilean stone fruit in China.
Charif Christian Carvajal, Marketing Director of ASOEX, has inaugurated the campaign emphasizing the rise in stone fruits supplies to the Chinese market, which is maintained year after year.
During his presentation, the specialist stressed: "In 1980, fresh fruit exports reached 260.000 tons. Today, they exceed 2.7 million tons, making Chile the main supplier of fresh fruits in the southern hemisphere, and the first global supplier of table grapes, plums and cherries."
Nectarine exports to China in its first campaign 2016-2017 totaled 2.858 tons. While the 2019-2020 campaign reached 29.675 tons.
As for sugar plums, supplies of these in 2016-2017 totaled 4.826 tons, growing to 26.760 tons last season.
While plums started with an accumulated of 22.247 tons, and grew to 32.549 tons in 2019-2020.
Asia represents 45 % of total Chilean nectarine exports to the world. In addition, China is the first market for sugar plums in Chile.
From ASOEX they indicated that the promotional campaign will focus on the need to consume these fruits to maintain physical condition and health, especially after celebrations of the Chinese New Year, which began on February 12.
The promotions will be carried out both at the retail, e-commerce, wholesale markets and social networks level.
