Beginning of the 2013 campaign, production of traditional shallots reached 35 000 tonnes.

The 2013 harvest of traditional shallot is launched.

Summer is the full period for harvesting traditional shallots. The 1st harvests began in Anjou region, then in the Brittany region.

Each year 35,000 tons of traditional shallots are harvested of which 27 000 tonnes in Britain and 3000 in the Loire Valley.

Remember that the traditional shallot is not sown but planted. In early spring the traditional shallot bulb is planted. This bulb (bulb-mother) multiplies and gives birth to other bulbs (bulbs-son). At the time of harvest, the bulbs are separated from each other. This separation leads to the base of the shallot a "scar", a brand of beige colour. This is the signature of the traditional shallot, the only authentic.
