Record volume for fresh fruit imports

In Japan, imports of fresh fruit during the first half of the year reached a record volume. An increase of 3% compared to the previous year.

 

 

 

Japan imported, in the first 6 months of 2020, a total of 897,458 tonnes of fresh fruit. This represents an increase of 3% compared to the same period in 2019.

 

 

 

This volume being the largest volume of fresh fruit imported into the country during the first half of the last 5 years. Bananas were the best performers of all imported fruit categories, with a 60.3% market share of all fruit imports.
