Fruit Logistica visitors had 2 days to vote and determine the best innovation among the 10 presented. The Gold FLIA 2020 was won by the tomato "Yoom ™" from the company Syngenta Seeds which collected 30% of the votes.
The Dutch company Syngenta had already won the FLIA in 2012 for its "Angello" red pepper. The Yoom tomato seduced by its particular characteristics, a color varying from purple to black depending on the light of day, a high content of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants as well as a sweet and sour and spicy flavor, also called "umami".
"We are very happy to have won this award again, because FRUIT LOGISTICA is the most important event for the fresh fruit industry. And this award is a great recognition of our work as well as a great motivation for our team, "says Jérémie Chabanis, EAME Food Chain Manager Vegetable and Specialties at Syngenta.
The Silver FLIA goes to the Polish company Silbo for its certified packaging, with water-based dyes and adhesives. They are fully compostable.
The FLIA Bronze was also awarded to sustainable packaging: the "SoFruMiniPak® Eco View" from the Polish company SoFruPak Witold Gai. It seals quickly, is made from renewable resources, provides good ventilation and optimized cooling, and is 100% biodegradable.
FRUIT LOGISTICA has been held every year since 1993. The FLIA was awarded for the 15th time this year.
