Ecuadorian organic banana exports to the EU generate revenues of $227.8 million by 2023

2023 was an outstanding year for organic products from Ecuador, with organic bananas leading exports to the European Union (EU). This product reached a preponderant place as more than half of its production was sent to the EU. According to data from the Ministry of Production, Foreign Trade, Investment and Fisheries, the EU has established itself as the main destination for organic bananas from Ecuador.

 

Organic banana exports to the EU in the year under review generated revenues of $227.8 million, which represents 51.3% of total exports in this category, according to the Central Bank of Ecuador. This increase is also reflected in the expansion of cultivation areas, reaching 22,616 hectares distributed in various provinces of the country.
