Due to the frost experienced in January and February, and the recent lack of rainfall, the production of asparagus in Granada (Spain) is expected to decrease by 20% this season, says Miguel Monferrer, the General Secretary of COAG Granada.

The province of Granada accounts for over 60% of Spain's total asparagus production and is the primary producer of green asparagus, followed by Guadalajara and Navarra, with the latter leading the production of white asparagus.

Last year, Granada produced 33,000 tons of asparagus. This year's yield is expected to decrease to 26,000 – 27,000 tons due to frost-related crop losses and a delayed start of the harvest. Additionally, if the lack of rain persists in May, there may be a reduction in the end of the harvest season.
