Pollen Beetle Threat
United Kingdom
Thursday 10 April 2008
According to ADAS, first pollen beetles have been reported from oilseed rape crops in certain areas, especially in coastal southern and eastern Britain. However numbers are below the threshold levels.
Growers are advised to carefully check the crops, particularly during or after a warm period. If crops host more than 15 pollen beetles per plant, they have to be sprayed. Otherwise they should not be sprayed because this will increase the development of insecticide resistance.
