Perfect for its color and its shape, this melon was bought 45 000 euro by auction.
A melon was sold 45 000 euro in an auction which took place during the annual melon festival in Turpan, Xinjiang, China. This is one Chinese businessman Mr Yu Lin who offered this astronomical sum.
The award-winning melon was selected for its sweetness, colour and form.
Considered as the softest to the world, these melons have a content in sugar of 20,2 g for 100 g.
The melon producer earns about 350 euro a month. Delighted by this sale, he indicated "I will not be giving up my farm, but I plan to buy more land and next year have an even bigger and better melon to sell."
