apple crop to be 7 to 20 days early
MD
In France, the apple crop will be 7 to 20 days early depending on the region.
The National Association of apple and pears (ANPP), which brings together more than half of French production, estimates 2 to 3 weeks in advance. The Southeast should begin harvesting in late July and the Southwest and the Loire Valley in early August.
The western and northern areas of the country will be three weeks ahead of normal schedule. The spring weather early in the season has fostered early flowering for apple trees. Most orchards have automated watering systems so they do not suffer from drought.
The coming weeks will be critical for fruit size and normal volumes are expected.
