Flooding and storms devastate greenhouses at Demre, Antalya

Severe thunderstorms occurred in the Antalya region, especially in Demre, production area of peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and zucchini in greenhouse.

According to official figures, about 135 hectares of greenhouses and more than 400 farmers have been affected by the bad weather. The damage resulted in the loss of about 7 million Turkish liras (€ 1 = 2.3 TL). 

The measures taken by the authorities have not proved sufficient, but they allowed to empty all the water from the greenhouses.
