Dole has revealed the launch of an innovative weekly ocean freight service to expand shipping capacity for tropical fruits, such as bananas, pineapples, dragon fruit, mangoes and limes from Honduras, Colombia and Guatemala to the United States.
The new Dole Ocean Cargo Express service officially kicked off on December 31, 2023, using two 1,200 FEU container ships known as MV Robin-2 and MV Robin-5 on a 14-day itinerary.
The ships make stops in Puerto Castilla (Honduras), Santa Marta (Colombia) and Puerto Barrios (Guatemala), before arriving in Wilmington (United States) every Saturday.
Additionally, Dole Ocean Cargo Express' Mayan Express service will facilitate connecting the northeastern US with Colombia, Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, using the same vessels to meet maritime transportation demands between these regions.
