NINFA manages to combine very high yield, excellent product quality and minimal environmental impact.
In the Italian region of Romagna, several companies have cooperated to implement hydroponics of 8 million salads. One of its companies, Rossi Ortofrutta Srl participates in the show (HB7D7 029) presenting NINFA, the salad grown in water with the technique of a floating system.
The ROSSI ORTOFRUTTA srl production site covers 13 hectares but is unique in terms of technology and quality of the materials used. With traditional methods, including rotation, 180 hectares of land would be needed in the field to reach the production achieved with these 13 hectares of floating system.
NINFA is the registered trademark for the marketing of these salads. Salads of high quality and rich in mineral salts, produced without the use of herbicides.
This hydroponic production allows for huge savings in water. Indeed, for the same number of salads produced the reduction in water consumption varies between 70 and 80% compared to traditional methods.
