Russia aligns itself with European standards for its fruit and vegetables imports.
After negotiations with the EU, Russia agreed to soften its standards in presence of pesticides and to align itself with the European and international standards.
Europeans managed to convince Russia to raise its thresholds, which were considered as excessively strict and which established an obstacle to fruit and vegetables exports.
Vegetables and fruits as pears, apples, grapes, lemons, peaches and apricots are particularly concerned by the measure. Exchanges of fruit and vegetables between the EU and Russia represent about 2,3 billion euro a year.
