About 67 firms from the Community of Valencia took part as exhibitors in the largest world horticultural fair on 7-9 February. These represented the 3% of the total of exhibitors of the fair. Many more Valencian professionals came as visitors.
The PGI Cítricos Valencianos exhibited at the fair for the eighth consecutive year. This was their seventh edition next at the institutional stand of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, together with the Regulatory Board Kaki Rivera del Xúquer, Committee on Ecological Agriculture of Valencia and 17 more companies like Agrios Selectos, Frutas Franch, Frutas Carrusel or Cañamás Hermanos, all of them belonging to the PGI Cítricos Valencianos.
All exhibitors were satisfied with the new contacts made and to have had the opportunity to meet with most of its customers in a couple of days, which prevents from extra time for trips.
The Regulator Councils of the Community of Valencia have decided to create the Federation of Regulator Councils and the Committee of Organic Farming of the Community of Valencia, with the approval of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Counselling. The aims are to promote and disseminate the culture and the prestige of the products benefiting from their denominations and to jointly promote the establishment of homogeneous control and certification systems under the regulation of their respective frameworks of quality. But not last, they aim to have a body that represents them before any instance, maintaining an open forum able to find joint solutions to common problems.
The first president of the Federation will be José Enrique Garrigós, chairman of the Regulatory Board and Jijona and Turrón de Alicante. The secretary-general will be Federico Moncunill from Jijona and Turrón de Alicante. Juan Bta. Juan, director of Regulatory Board of Cítricos Valencianos and Alfonso and José Serra, secretary general of the denomination Utiel-Requena will serve as deputy secretaries
