Coop reports sales increase of 38,9%

Coop With has recorded turnover of 27.8 billion Swiss francs, an increase of 38.9% over the previous year, a strong result given the economic climate.

For retail, Coop currently has 816 stores with a turnover of CHF 11 billion. The trading  channel counts 567 stores (DIY, perfume ...) and CHF 3.2 billion, with 598 subsidiary stores totaling CHF 3.7 billion.

Online sales had an excellent year with a turnover up 12.8% to reach CHF 0.2 billion francs. 2011 marked the first full consolidation of the Transgourmet, specialist self-service and wholesale deliveries operating in Switzerland, France, Germany, Poland, Romania and Russia. Its 108 large supermarkets and delivery service have generated sales of CHF 8.2 billion francs, an increase of 5.4%.

At the end of 2011, the Coop Group had 2097 stores. There were 210 openings (including the acquisition of 108 large Transgourmet supermarkets) for 33 closures. The total sales area in 31 December 2011 to nearly 2.6 million m2.
