New varieties for processing

Objective: varieties of potatoes suitable for factories local transformations.

The Nyandarua region has partnered with the National Potato Council and with the German organization GTZ to produce new potato varieties. These new varieties are designed to produce value-added products in local factories.

A virtuous cycle is to be set up: start seed production for appropriate varieties and then provide them to all farmers in the region that will increase their production and can provide the processing factory. Avoiding to import Egyptian potatoes needed for the factory.
