Ronald Bown Fernández, the President of ASOEX, informs that in the 2020-2021 campaign it is estimated to export 66.393.109 boxes of chilean table grapes (8.2 kilos per box). This projection corresponds to the data provided by 38 companies, which together represent 59 percent of exported volume in the previous season.
This figure shows a fall of 19.3 percent compared to the first estimate of December 2020, in which it was projected to export 82.3 million boxes. This decrease was caused by the effects of rains and hailstorms in producing regions of Chilean table grapes.
Ronald Bown Fernández specified that this new projection shows a decrease of 9.8 percent compared to the exports of the 2019-20 season, in which 73.6 million boxes of grapes were exported to the different markets of the world. He also highlighted that it is a decrease of 15.9 million boxes in relation to the December projection of 82.309.644 boxes.
