Anticipated increase for the crop of peaches 2013
FJ
The harvest 2013 will be higher than that of the last year.
For the region of Murcia, the Ministry of Agriculture estimated the peach crop to 249 505 tonnes, representing an increase of 24% compared to 2012. Good perspectives for the sector despite the losses undergone as a result of the severe frost of February.
Murcia is the third region of Spain, with 13,692 hectares of peaches, after the region of Cataluña and the region of Aragón. Over the last 10 years its exports of peaches have increased by about 40%. Its main customers are Germany, Great Britain and France with 72% of total exports.
