EU lemon prices to remain high
PE
Lemon prices in the European Union are experiencing a significant upward trend of +30% or more compared to historical averages.
Lemon prices began at a high level and rose sharply in spring 2025 to €137/100 kg in April, a 22% increase year-on-year average. In Spain, the EU’s primary producer, prices reached as high as €151/100 kg during the same period, the highest among major European producers.
The elevated prices are a direct result of a substantial contraction in EU lemon production. Spanish harvest is estimated at 1,027,000 tonnes, an 18% decrease compared to the 2024/25 season. The decline is estimated at -15% for Fino lemons and -25% for Verna lemons. Overall EU production for lemons is expected to experience a 12.38% reduction, totaling 4.23 million tonnes for the 2025/26 season. Sources: DG-Agri and Eu member states.
