Tomatoes: wholesale prices up to due to increase demand from USA
Mexico
Tuesday 10 May 2005
Wholesale domestic prices for Mexican tomatoes increased by 54 percent from the first week to the second week in April.
The rise was due to increased demand in the US market as a result of the lower US domestic supplies due to the hurricanes in 2004 and also lower domestic production in Mexico itself after heavy rains in the main producing state of Sinaloa.
