Increase of organic bananas exports

Buoyed by continued growth in demand, exports of organic bananas have sharply risen  in recent months according to figures provided by Maximixe.

During the first 2 months of 2011, exports of organic bananas have increased by 30.2% in value to $ 10.5 million, and 25.4% in volume to reach 16,997 tons.
The Netherlands have increased the demand in volume of 44.4 %, Japan 36.2%,   and Belgium 18.5%. 
The average export price of organic bananas is 620.4 dollars per ton.

In 2010, exports of organic bananas totaled U.S. $ 55.5 million. In value terms the increase was 18.3% compared to 2009, volume growth was 19.2%.
