Northern hemisphere citrus production set to rebound

For the 2023-24 citrus season in the northern hemisphere, WCO forecasts production to reach 28,976,001 tonnes, up 12.2% on the previous season (Photo: fao.org).
These production forecasts are based on data from Egypt, Greece, Israel, Italy, Morocco, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey and the United States.
For the 2023-24 citrus season in the northern hemisphere, WCO (World Citrus Organisation) forecasts production to reach 28,976,001 tonnes, +12.2% on the previous season and +1.48% on the average of the last 4 seasons.
Citrus exports are expected to reach 9,483,770 tonnes, +11.4% on the previous season and +4.5% on the average of the last 4 seasons.
The expected increase is mainly due to growth in production in Turkey and Egypt, while production in other countries remains stable or slightly up.
