Collecting fruit and vegetables at farms with your own hands and then paying the farmer directly is becoming a widespread phenomenon which allows to make an alternative vacation and at the same time filling in your shopping cart. This is what the Italian agricultural association Coldiretti informs, adding that many Countries including Italy are following the example of Anglo-Saxon Countries where this phenomenon is already a common one and is called “pick your own”.
“The self-service system of collection and purchase of fruit and vegetables assures discount prices to consumers - says Coldiretti - according to variety, quality and size that meet the domestic needs, with the limit, which is actually a value, that the choice is closely linked to season and times of ripening of products”.
