Poland aims new markets

Record exports for apples from Poland.

Poland is the No. 1 producer of apples in Europe and No. 3 in the world after China and the United States. Polish 2012 production reached 3.5 million tons and its exports about 1.2 million tons. The main destination of these apples is Russia where 6 apples consumed from 10 are Polish.

Apple production in Poland could reach 4 to 5 million tons in recent years. The sector therefore aims to find new markets. Association of Producers wishes to offer a promotion campaign in China and the Gulf countries. The cost would approach 7 million euros.
