Ecuador is the world leader in banana exports with a market share of about 29%.
Excellent performance in the first quarter of 2017 for Ecuador's exports, which grew by 11.8% in value and by 10.6% in volume compared to the same period in 2016.
According to the study carried out by PRO ECUADOR banana remains at the top of the exported agricultural products. As for destinations, Asia, Central America and Europe have considerably increased their volumes.
In the rate of increase, the ranking is led by South Korea which achieved an impressive 322.4%. Then, China with 45.2% is followed by Vietnam with 41.8% then Mexico with 25.9% and Argentina with 25.0%. The European Union is credited with a growth rate of 16.3%, Colombia 11.0%, Brazil 10.3% and Russia 8.7%.
