New perishable cargo trackers for cold chain applications at low temperatures
VU | Copeland
On March 21, at the London Produce Show 2022, Emerson (NYSE: EMR) announced the release of GO real-time 4G/5G-LT, the new addition to its full complement of trackers for perishable cargo. This release was developed to monitor wider temperature ranges, and those required for frozen perishable products, and includes the latest generation of 4G/5G Cat-M network technologies. With a battery life of over 60 days, it also can be used in different applications including longer sea container trips.
Today's supply chain experiences a surge in worldwide shipments of refrigerated and frozen perishable products such as ice cream, frozen meat, poultry, and other proteins at frozen temperatures ranging from -10 to -30C. The innovative GO real-time 4G/5G-LT tracker series will perfectly match this market segment. Aside of being optimized for colder temperatures, it will also serve well for medium temperature fresh produce up to 60C.
These trackers can monitor in-transit conditions: location, temperature, light and humidity. 3 model options are suitable for short road shipments, long oversea shipments and applications that require the reuse of the same device for closed-loop scenarios. The trackers can be tuned to notify users in real-time via text or email in case any adverse conditions arise.
According to Amy Childress, vice president marketing and sales, cargo for Emerson’s cold chain business, with improved location accuracy built upon emerging 4G/5G global networks and appropriate battery performance at frozen temperatures, their customers obtain access to their perishable cargo data at any time.
