Peru launches a number of its promotional campaigns again in Asian markets
Asia is currently the third largest market for Peruvian agrifood exports. The signing of new agreements and protocols, the work of Peru's trade offices in Asian markets, and the country's permanent presence at trade fairs and industry events are confirming Peru's intention to establish itself as a preferential partner in Asia over the past 10 years.
According to Mario Ocharán, Export Director at PROMPERÚ, Asian countries are an important destination market for Peruvian food products, which is why the country is redoubling its promotion efforts both in the retail sector and to end consumers in order to generate and increase demand for its products. “Meanwhile, from a State perspective we continue to work hand-in-hand with other institutions on the protocols and permits necessary to permit the entry of new fresh produce to the Asian market,” he added.
To give Asian consumers a better understanding of what Peru has to offer, several well-known influencers from Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand recently launched a promotional campaign, preparing a range of dishes live using the most representative ingredients of Peruvian cuisine. The aim of this action is to showcase Peruvian foodstuffs to a younger audience through being posted on the profiles of various regional influencers on the social media.
Table grapes, cranberries, quinoa and chia are promoted in Thailand on the e-commerce portal Freshliving, and through tasting sessions at The Mall, Max Value, Foodland and Tops supermarket chains. In addition, Peru has recently expanded its promotional campaign in Singapore by launching 'Power Up with Super Foods Peru' in a number of supermarkets.
An equally important step in the promotional campaign of Peru was this year participation in the largest online fresh food trade fair in Asia: Asia Fruit Logistica. Agrícola Chapi, Asglobalfresh, POMICA, Agualima and Vison's Peru were the Peruvian companies that took part in an event under the umbrella PROMPERÚ (Peru's Commission for Promotion of Export and Tourism). All these companies are well versed in Asian markets, because they already have experience in exporting a large proportion of their output to the markets of China, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Singapore, in which they hope to increase further their share. In addition, these companies also target other countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia.
Vanesa Benavides, the Asglobalfresh representative, shared that the company is pleased with its first visit at Asia Fruit Logistica. It has achieved the target of penetrating the Asian market, as it represents a business opportunity due to the growth potential in the demand for fresh Peruvian fruits, such as citrus fruits, grapes and avocados. “It is worth highlighting that the commercial impact of Peru is particularly positive in China, India and Japan. These markets demand high quality citrus fruits, avocados and grapes at competitive prices,” she added.
Asglobalfresh is an exporter of a conventional and an organic fresh fruits from Peru, Spain and Chile. The company's experience gives it an advantage that guarantees the successful grasp of the international market and makes it the reliable and solvent choice for customers' needs. Asglobalfresh exports to China, USA and EU.
