Good perspective for frozen avocado from Peru in Russia
VU
Peruvian frozen avocado has commercial opportunities in Russia. This was reported by Egorov Ramírez Hinojosa, head of the Foreign Ministry of the Embassy of Peru in Russia, in the virtual forum “Market profile of frozen avocado for Russia and Amazon nut for Israel”.
The event was held thanks to an agreement signed by the Association of Exporters (ADEX), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (RR.EE.) and the Academic Centers of ADEX (Ceadex).
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs specified that frozen avocados are not yet sold by anyone and Peruvian exporters could become pioneers in this sector.
He also highlighted that until October 12, 2021, Russia is expected to grant Peru a preferential tariff of 6 percent, which will be modified due to Decision No. 17 of the Eurasian Economic Commission. The Peruvian territory will no longer be part of Russia's Unified System of Tariff Preferences and that product would only enter by paying the Most Favored Nation tariff (8%).
Ramírez highlighted the importance of participating in the Russian fairs that will be held face-to-face this year: Peterfood, World Food Moscow, Prodexpo and Interfood Saint Petersburg.
He added that it is important to position the Peruvian avocado as one of high quality and with the best price, in order to achieve a clear differentiation with its competitors: Israel, Colombia, Mexico and South Africa.
