Garden of England in Kent will produce the first kiwifruit from England.
England is going to cultivate kiwifruit on a great scale for the first time. Marketing will intervene before 2012.
1.200 kiwis were planted in a secret location in Kent, called "Garden of England ".
Kiwis were imported by Italy and by Greece and transplanted in May under the initiative of Worldwide Fruit belonging to the group Turners and Growers and of the producer’s organization Fruition.
This production could bring a viable alternative to products imported by France, by Italy and by Greece. In the country, kiwi’s market represents 20 million pounds of sterling.
