Avocado exports grew by 33%

Mexico has recorded a 33% increase of its exports of avocado.
APEAM (Asociación de Productores exporters Change of Aguacate) announces 643,000 tons of avocado exported for the period 2012-2013, an increase of 33% compared to the previous period (464 000 tonnes).
The great northern neighbor, the United States, remains the largest consumer of Mexican avocados. The United States imported 518,000 tonnes between July 2012 and June 2013, 40% more than the previous year in which they had consumed 370,000 tons.
Mexico, World No. 1 for the production of avocado remains also at the top of the list for export. The country multiplies his market opportunities: Japan, Canada, Central America and Europe. These cities have imported 125,000 tons of Mexican avocado, an increase of 32% compared to the previous year when shipments amounted only to 90,000 tons.
