In 2018 the United States imported 779,000 tons of canned F & L valued at $1 billion.
The United States is importing more and more canned F & V, with data for 2018 showing a growth of 3% in volume and 3.4% in value compared with the previous year.
According to an IndexBox report, in 2018 the United States imported 779,000 tonnes of canned F & V, up by 3% from 2017, for a value of $1 billion (+ 3.4%).
Spain (162 000 tonnes), Greece (86 000 tonnes) and India (70 000 tonnes) were the main suppliers of Canned Fruit & Vegetables imported to the United States, accounting for 41% of total imports. Then come China, Peru, the Netherlands, Italy, Turkey, Morocco, Egypt, Thailand and France, which together account for 44%.
In terms of value, the main suppliers of canned fruits and vegetables in the United States were Spain ($ 221 million), Greece ($ 171 million) and Peru ($ 84 million), with a share of 47% combined of total imports. Then come Italy, the Netherlands, China, India, Turkey, Morocco, France, Thailand and Egypt, ie 39%.
