Lower volumes for processing

Italian production of tomatoes for processing in 2005 is expected to decline by 17 percent from 2004 to about 5.2 million tonnes. The main reason for this trend is the record tomato production of 2004 that resulted in low wholesale market prices of processed products and in high year-end stocks.
