Ecuador welcomes new Minister of Agriculture and Livestock

On May 4, 2022, Bernardo Manzano was elected as the new Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, replacing Pedro Álava.
Previously, Manzano was managing La Clementina farm owned by Álvaro Noboa and which was seized for tax debts and later taken over by its workers.
The new minister highlighted that the agri sector of Ecuador urges for a census, because the last one was carried out 22 years ago.
By the census, Manzano means to prioritize government policies and define the sectors that need more investment and modernization.
He added that he will work with the producers in the 24 provinces in order to reach agreements, find solutions and reorient the agricultural vision.
