Palumbo, a company specialised in the export of citrus and vegetables from the Calabria region, has diversified its activity to include the production of Bergamot essential oil.
The bergamot is a yellow pear-shaped citrus that is considered too acidic to eat, but is widely used in the perfume industry.
95 percent of the world's Bergamot production is from Calabria.
