Export record of Turkish potatoes
MLK
According to the Union of Exporters of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables of Uludag, the increase in export is due to an increase in production of about 52 percent and places potatoes in 4th range of the most exported Turkish vegetables, with exported 310,000 tons against 92,000 tons sold in 2012.
The main exporting countries were Syria, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Bosna and Greece but it is mostly in Syria that the largest increase has been felt. On the other hand, some countries, such as Italy, Libya, Gelding, some countries in the Middle East and Singapur, decreased their import of potatoes from Turkey.
This situation has created a shortage on the market of internal consumption, leading to a number of speculations and increase in prices.
