Will European exports be stimulated by this trade agreement?
The economic and trade agreement between the EU and Canada has been approved by the European Parliament, it will be able to come into operation "on a provisional basis" as soon as the 1st of April 2017.
FEPEX, using Eurostat data, reports that EU exports to Canada totaled 39 914 tonnes of fruit and vegetables up to September 2016, about 2% more than the same period in 2015. Among the most exported products kiwis, citrus and apples.
European imports of Fruits & Vegetables from Canada for the same period totaled 945 tonnes, 2% more than in 2015.
