The Chilean government declared yesterday state of emergency for some 30 districts more in the Country, hit by severe drought causing serious damages to agriculture. In some area the water reserves have also been critically affected.
In total, emergency was declared for 89 districts over the total of 345 in the Country. This allows the government to allocate special funds to face the problem.
“If we have to declare state of emergency for any district in the country, we will do that”, presidency’s spokesperson Francisco Vidal commented.
“We will carry out everything is in our possibilities to help the Chilean population hit by drought”, Vidal added, and concluded: “The only thing we cannot favour is raining”.
