The port plans to work with authorities and industry partners to improve coordination in future export seasons.
Chile’s Puerto Caldera has concluded the Atacama region’s fruit export campaign, handling more than 6,300 tonnes of fresh produce.
According to the port operator, the season involved four vessels and more than 7,400 pallets of fruit, marking the final shipments of the campaign.
Puerto Caldera said total volumes were lower than expected after an operational stoppage on 26 January, caused by an exceptional labour dispute that halted activity during a key export window.
The interruption affected port operations as well as producers and workers linked to the region’s fruit export chain.
The port said it will work with authorities and industry stakeholders in the coming months to strengthen coordination and improve operational continuity for future export campaigns.
