Swiss berry harvest ramps up with higher raspberry and blueberry yields expected

Switzerland’s berry harvest is peaking, with increased volumes of raspberries, blueberries, and redcurrants expected in 2025, while blackberry output is set to decline slightly.
Switzerland’s berry season is in full swing, with the Swiss Fruit Association forecasting strong 2025 yields for raspberries (2,320 tonnes), blueberries (820 tonnes), and redcurrants (320 tonnes) in an early July update. Blackberry output, however, is projected to decline by 7% to 520 tonnes.
Harvest volumes are set to accelerate, with weekly yields projected to surpass 170 tonnes of raspberries, 100 tonnes of blueberries, and 50 tonnes of redcurrants. The main blackberry harvest is anticipated from mid-July, delivering over 50 tonnes weekly.
To stabilise production and minimise climate-related risks, more growers have shifted to protected cultivation methods — such as greenhouses and polyethylene tunnels. These setups help improve fruit quality, enable better harvest scheduling, and reduce the need for pesticides. The peak season for Swiss berries continues through July and August.
