Australian producers are afraid that Chinese apples introduce devastating insects.
The Australian government gave the approval for China apples imports.
Biosecurity Australia approves temporarily these imports. Definitive approval is subjected to a different survey on the risk of introduction of devastating on the Australian ground.
This arouses fears at the Australian producers of apples. The planned analysis does not cover the insect Drosophila suzukii, devastating at present in China, which could make its appearance in Australia.
Total imports of the Chinese apples could reach 50.000 tons which is 20 % of the Australian market.
