Citrus of Aegean Region affected by frost

For 3 years this region recognizes periods of freezing but this is the first time it is affected so severly. 80 per cent of orchards have suffered significant losses and greenhouses were also affected.

This region produces mainly oranges on 40,000 hectares while 5,000 hectares are planted with mandarins.

Citrus growers say that they will not sell their fruit in these conditions and ask government assistance.
