FJ
Production in 2015 is expected to be slightly down according to the findings of CSO (Centro Servizi Ortofruttico) based on a preliminary investigation yields.
CSO estimates that 2015 production will be lower than the production in the previous year. Because of the decline for two main varieties grown in Italy: Fetel Abate, William. These two varieties represent on average almost 70% of the pear production at national level and about 75% of the production of the Emilia Romagna region.
Emilia Romagna: the production estimate for Abate pears is 250 000 tonnes, nearly 10% compared to last year. For variety William estimate is 100 000 tonnes or 5% compared to 2014 - 9% compared to the average of recent years.
For minor varieties, the expected production is near normal amounts.
