Positive campaign for Chilean kiwifruit

Started with some uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the kiwifruit campaign is coming to an end and the results are positive. According to data from the Kiwi Committee, Chile has already exported 136,000 tonnes of kiwi fruit.
The kiwifruit season is coming to an end and there are still Chilean kiwifruit waiting to be exported. For Carlos Cruzat, president of the Kiwi Committee, the campaign is positive for Chilean kiwis. Although it started with some uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it boosted demand due to the high vitamin C content of kiwifruit.
"The pandemic has changed the way people behave in relation to food. Today people are looking for healthy food, it is a matter of health, where fruits like kiwi are essential", a- he declared.
The volume that Chile exported reached 136,514 tonnes of kiwifruit, as of weeks 33-34. Europe is the main destination with 52,657 tonnes (+ 20% compared to 2019). Latin America follows with 26,101 tonnes, the Far East with 24,380 tonnes, followed by North America with 20,190 tonnes, the Middle East with 6,745 tonnes and Russia with 6,441 tonnes.
