Strong demand for Jerusalem artichokes

Divine surprise for producers of Jerusalem artichokes, demand is sustained.

Producers of the Veneto region are very satisfied with the demand of Jerusalem artichoke. They noted, for the Christmas period, strong demand, which has almost doubled compared to 2012. Demand is maintained, outside of the Christmas period, with higher rates: around +30 and 40% compared to last year.

According to the organization OPO Veneto, this is a product that is increasingly appreciated. Some consumers chose Jerusalem artichokes for their novelty, others for the health benefits of vegetables. Jerusalem artichokes are well suited for low-calorie diets and effective against diabetes. They contain a substance that neutralizes glucose levels in the blood and are nicknamed "diabetic potato".
