To encourage the consumption of healthy products, the Slovak Parliament voted in favor of lowering VAT on new food products.
Already 10% since 2016 on certain basic food products (meat, fish, milk, butter, fresh bread) VAT will also be reduced to 10% for new products. A vote in parliament confirmed the decision.
Among the products concerned by this VAT reduction: fruit and vegetable juices, fruits and vegetables from the temperate zone such as potatoes, tomatoes, onions, garlic, leeks, cabbages, lettuce, cucumbers, gherkins, legumes, apples and pears.
The goal is to lower VAT on all food products in the future.
