Peru’s purple corn exports rise in volume but slip in value in 2025

Peru’s purple corn exports delivered diverging year-on-year results in 2025 versus 2024, with volume inching up while value softened under price pressure, according to Agrodata.
Total export volume in 2025 reached 1,204,072 kg, a 1% increase from 1,190,443 kg in 2024. Export value declined 6% to US$2,423,742 FOB, compared with US$2,589,279 the year before, as the average price fell from US$2.18/kg to US$2.01/kg (-7%).
By destination, the United States dominated shipments at US$1.454 million FOB in 2025, far ahead of other markets. Spain followed with US$254,000, while Italy reached US$130,000 and Ecuador US$115,000. Smaller values were recorded for Turkey (US$99,000) and Belgium (US$36,000), with additional volumes moving to the Netherlands.
Exports in January 2026 totalled 111,326 kg valued at US$250,736 FOB, with an average price of US$2.25/kg, pointing to firmer pricing at the start of the new season.
