Production increase of 9% will result in a decrease in imports of oranges in China.
The conditions are favorable for higher production.
The USDA report estimates that orange production will reach 7.6 million tonnes for the marketing year 2013/14 (November-October). An increase of 9% compared to the previous season.
Growing conditions are favorable, including in the province of Jiangxi. The first Chinese producing region will regain its previous levels of production, after 2012/13 season at reduced production due to excessive rainfall. Yields will rise, other producing provinces (Sichuan, Guangxi, Chongqing) also expect a good harvest.
