Consumption in a descending sipral
FJ
The decrease of the consumption of fruits and vegetables in Italy seems to be confirmed.
For 10 years a progressive decrease is observed for the consumption of fruits and vegetables in Italy. The italian housholds have purchased an average of 461kg/year fruits and vegetables in 2000, but this average has fall to 323 kg in 2013, representing 138 kg less by year and by household.
The decrease of the quantity is very severe. But this decline affects certain sectors more than others: it is the case of oranges but not clementines, bananas, but not exotic fruits (+11%), watermelons, but not strawberries (+3) or cherries (+6%), the salad but not the radicchio (+18%).
The effects of the crise are felt and according to resent survey the Italians have restricted certain purchases such as olive oil (-4%), fish (-7%). The sector hopes that the prime of 80 euro decided by the government will have success to make advance the sales to stimulate the ecomony.
