Germany has imported 701 000 tons of tomatoes

Tomatoes are still the favorite vegetable in Germany.

 

According to datas published by BLE (Bundesanstalt für Landwirtschaft und Ernährung), the Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food, German have consummed  24,9 kg of tomatoes per inhabitant during the campaigns 2012/13 and 2013/14.  The details are 8,5 kg for fresh tomatoes and 16,4 kg for processed products.

 

In 2014, 701.000 tons have been imported. 92% were coming from EU, whose 390.000 tons from the Netherlands, 164.000 tons from Spain. Outside EU, the main supplier is Morocco with 50.000 tons.
